Stewart collection, maker unknown, 1900-1941 Model of a single cylinder oscillating steam engine with slide valve, drive wheel and flywheel, loose eccentric, reversing gear and Watt-type governor. The crankshaft and governor are supported by a table resting on four columns.The model is made from steel and brass and is mounted on a hollow circular base. The reversing gear operates by throwing the eccentric lever out and reversing by hand and then slipping the eccentric lever into gear again.
