Toy battleship, 'Orobr' floor toy, metal, clockwork operated, made by Oro Works of Reil, Blechschmidt & Müller, Brandenburg, Germany, c. 1910 This toy battleship features two funnels with a pair of lifeboats suspended from davits between them. Between the lifeboats is a metal sleeve which would have housed a tall mast which is missing. The superstructure comprises three sets of double-barrel turret guns and a series of four, side turret guns. Tin-printed guns are depicted emerging from the hull together with an anchor near the bow and waves breaking against the hull. The bow is slightly pointed while the stern is more rounded. A bracket above the front gun turret would probably have held a battery-operated light which is missing. A key is built into the hull and the ship travels on two rear wheels and one front wheel. The battleship is of tab and slot tin plate construction.
