There is presently a Cliff Road in Scarborough on the south coast, but it is not known whether this where this image was taken. A horsedrawn coach is depicted travelling north in the centre of the image. It is being drawn by four horses. Two men are depicted sitting in the drivers seat are and a thrid man is sitting on the roof of the coach. A dog can be seen on the road, in front of the coach. A man rding a horse is depicted beside the coach in the cantre left of the image. A single-horsedrawn cart is depicted behind the coach. Two men can be seen sitting in the cart. A large tree is depictedon the right side of the image. Part of the top of the tree is missing due to manipulation of the emulsion to enhance the sky area of the image. The background of the image depicts the coastline of the south coast of New South Wales. The ocean can be seen on the left side of the image. A jetty can be seen extending into the water in the background of the image. The caption, studio mark and studio number are inscribed on the reverse of the negative. The exact loaction of this image is not known and hence the jetty depicted cannot be positively identified. A number of jetties were built along the south coast to allow coal to be transported from nearby coalmines to ships.
