Tsuba, lion (shishi), bronze / gilt, maker unknown, Japan, 1700-1900 A circular shaped tsuba made of bronze metal and gilt, with a central triangular hole and a bean shaped hole flanked to one side. The tsuba has a textured background that circles around the decoration of three lion dogs in a landscape scene. The obverse is also decorated with a landscape scene of a winding river and foliage around which is also decorated in gold.
